How to Find Us

Isunga Lodge is located on the boundary of Kibale Forest National Park, approximately 26 km south of Fort Portal. Lat: 0.475195, Lng: 30.321165 (also see Map)

Coming from Fort Portal town centre
Follow Lugard Road, passing Andrew’s supermarket on your left, to the roundabout and go straight on down the hill, past Stanbic Bank on your right. At the bottom of the hill, take a right turn immediately before the bridge over the Mpanga River. This is the Kamwenge Road. Continue on this road for around 23 km until you come to a small junction on your right where the Uganda Wildlife Authority Headquarters for Kibale National Park are located. Follow our signpost and turn right up the hill, passing through tea plantations. Follow this road for approximately 3km, passing through Isunga trading centre; you will see a signpost directing you straight on. Shortly after leaving the trading centre, turn left at our signpost into the access road. Follow the access road for around half a kilometre until it ends at the lodge.

Coming from Kampala
From the Kampala Road, turn left towards Fort Portal town centre and take the first left immediately after the bridge over the Mpanga River. This is the Kamwenge Road. Continue on this road as above.

Coming from Queen Elizabeth National Park
Shortly after going through the village of Rwimi (around 1 km), there is a right turn onto a dirt road. From here to the lodge is approximately 20km. Follow the road and you will come to a large village called Rwankwenzi where you can either go left or straight on - go straight (the other way takes you to the area around Ndali)*. Keep following the road to Isunga, passing through several small villages on the way. Just before reaching Isunga trading centre, you will see our signpost. Turn right and follow the access road for around half a kilometre until it ends at the lodge.
*Note: after very heavy rains this direct route from Queen Elizabeth may be a little difficult in parts so the slightly longer route via Ndali can be used. At Rwankwenzi go left, and then left again at Kasenda then follow road all the way to Rwaihamba, Turn right to Isunga just as you are leaving the trading centre. At the end of this road you will see our signpost.
